GS-260F UAV LiDAR System Application for Ultra-High Voltage Power Line Inspection
Project Background
Geosun GS-260F UAV LiDAR scanning system was deployed in a demonstration project for the State Grid Corporation of China, focusing on the inspection of a 1000 kV ultra-high voltage (UHV) power line.
Operation Parameters
Flight Altitude: 120 meters AGL (20 meters above the 100 m-high towers)
Flight Speed: 5 m/s
Target Object: UHV transmission line corridor and tower structures
Equipment Highlights
The GS-260F integrates a 40-beam 905nm Class 1 laser unit with double echo return, achieving a data rate of 720,000 points/sec and a measuring range of 200 m @ 10% reflectivity. The system ensures high-density, full-coverage point clouds of both cables and tower tops at safe inspection altitudes.
Horizontal Accuracy: ≤10 cm @ 150 m
Position Accuracy: ≤5 cm
Laser Field of View: 360° adjustable
Pitch/Roll Accuracy: 0.005°, Heading Accuracy: 0.017°
GNSS System: GPS, GLONASS, BDS, Galileo (Multi-band support)
Results & Feedback
Accurate reconstruction of transmission lines and insulators, with clear cable sag and tower geometry.
Seamless integration with gAirHawk point cloud processing software and Shuttle trajectory software for rapid data delivery.
Operational safety ensured by maintaining UAV flight paths above dangerous structures while still capturing fine detail.
Client Testimonial
“The GS-260F provided reliable data even under high-voltage corridor interference. It’s a powerful solution for UHV grid asset inspection.”
