In a recent collaboration in Guangxi, China, the Geosun GS-1500N LiDAR scanning system was deployed to conduct a comprehensive aerial survey of a substation and surrounding transmission towers. Known for its exceptional long-range capabilities and ultra-high precision, the GS-1500N proved to be the ideal solution for this highly demanding infrastructure inspection.
Despite complex wire networks and structural overlap, the GS-1500N was able to deliver clearly defined, continuous point cloud data of key components — from the main grid lines and insulators to 10kV distribution wires, all reconstructed with stunning detail even from altitudes of 200 to 300 meters.
Key Advantages of GS-1500N in This Project:
Long-range detection up to 1500m, ideal for power corridors and large substations
Vertical accuracy within ±3cm, ensuring clear wire sag analysis and tower integrity assessment
Support for up to 8 echoes, enabling better penetration through vegetation and cables
High-density point cloud output, capturing fine details of both horizontal and vertical infrastructure
Fully integrated with Geosun’s GNSS/INS and trajectory processing system for reliable data quality
The result is not just a dataset—but a digital twin of the substation, enabling engineers to carry out remote diagnostics, line clearance checks, and maintenance planning with greater confidence and safety.
