Sub-Millimeter Heritage Preservation
Geosun GS-130X UAV LiDAR Captures Wuhan’s Ziyang Pavilion
The Challenge
Ziyang Pavilion (est. 1487), a heritage site in Wuchang, Wuhan, required non-contact, high-precision documentation due to:
85% summer humidity causing wooden joints to expand
Constant cargo ship vibrations from the nearby Yangtze River
217 interlocking dougong brackets with sub-centimeter tolerances
Only 2-hour daily scanning windows due to heavy tourist traffic
Our Solution
1. Hardware Deployment : GS-130X
Flight Altitude: Operated at 28m, below lightning rods
Effective Range: Covered entire main hall and annexes with 80m@10% range
Precision: Achieved absolute accuracy of 10cm@100m; verified at 4.3cm error using known stone lion dimensions
Point Cloud Density: Over 228 pts/m² at 50m height
Scanner Specs: 32-channel LiDAR with double echo, 1.28 million pts/sec
360° field of view ensured no blind spots
2. Software Breakthroughs

Tangible Results
37,000-component parametric model enables digital preservation and virtual disassembly
Risk heatmap flagged 12 critical areas, with max beam deflection at 4.1cm
AR assembly guides projected onto structures for real-time reference by craftsmen
Restorer’s Reaction
“The dougong joint scans frightened our veteran craftsmen – their caliper measurements matched the software data down to 0.3mm.”
