Enhanced LiDAR Performance in Unmanned Mining Environments: A Field Test of the GS-130X Multi-Platform System

April 12, 2024

Latest company case about Enhanced LiDAR Performance in Unmanned Mining Environments: A Field Test of the GS-130X Multi-Platform System

In a recent field test conducted in unmanned mining areas, the GS-130X multi-platform LiDAR system demonstrated exceptional performance under challenging conditions. The system was tested in two different scenarios:

1、Placement of LiDAR on Engine Hood:

Test Results:

  • Validation points on stone pedestals exhibited a general disparity of 30-35cm in the plane.
  • The terrain consisted of soil with an elevation precision of 7cm.
  • Average speed on mountain roads was 20km/h with a point density of 2800p/㎡.
  • Partial displacement occurred when turning out from stone pedestals, with an average displacement of 20cm. Straight segments remained unaffected.

Test Results:

  • Utilization of base station mode for PPK processing resulted in plane accuracy of 8-15cm.
  • The terrain featured soil with an elevation precision of 3.7cm.
  • Due to changes in installation position, some points were obstructed and filtered out. Localized layering was observed during turns.

  • Based on checkpoint error values, base station mode demonstrated greater stability, with noticeable improvement in shock absorption on bumpy roads.
  • Comparison with Scenario 3 revealed displacement issues during sharp turns, while stability was generally maintained on highways.
  • The difference in terrain roughness had minimal impact, with plane control averaging around 15cm. Elevation precision improved by approximately 3cm, potentially attributed to point filtering. Attention is needed to address significant motion during turns.
  • At the same installation position, point density varied with speeds of 40km/h and 20km/h, reaching 1800p/㎡ and 800p/㎡ respectively.
